Field Notes: HQ Racing — Steel, Snow, and the Switch at Dusk

HQ Racing called for something more than signage.

HQ Racing visionary, Steve DiPaolo wanted presence.

Architect Joe Thompson wanted integration.
The building needed a branding feature that felt structural — not applied.

So that’s where we started.

Scope of Work:

• Exterior brand concept development
• Engineered steel support structure
• Concrete footing coordination
• Permitting & municipal approvals
• Fabrication of illuminated cabinet & channel lettering
• Architectural mesh canopy feature
• Winter installation and façade integration

The vertical steel frame you see isn’t decorative.
It’s anchored into engineered footings and tied directly into the façade system.

The illuminated “HQ” cabinet was fabricated in-house — LED-lit for strong night presence and built to feel like it belonged there from day one.

Install day?

Cold.
Snow on the ground.
Steel in the air.
Crew locked in.

Projects like this demand precision — alignment, anchoring, coordination — especially when winter decides to show up.

There’s a moment on builds like this — usually when the sun drops — where you step back. Flip the switch. And see the structure come alive.

That happened here.

We’ve worked with Joe for years. There’s trust there.
Steve pushed for bold — and we respect that.

Over a beer after wrap-up, the consensus was simple:

Grateful for the opportunity.
Proud of the crew.
On to the next one.

Projects like this are why we do what we do.
